Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Debrigarh Tiger Reserve will soon welcome two tigers , Forest and Environment Minister Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia has informed. The minister confirmed that the state is coordinating with the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) to bring back tigers from Similipal. He said that the cooperation of the local government is very important for the success of this effort.
He mentioned that discussions are already underway with the villagers. Without their support, it is difficult to ensure tiger protection and reproduction.
Earlier, tigresses Yamuna and Zeenat were shifted from Similipal to Debrigarh. However, the breeding has not happened yet. So the breeding process has not been possible, but the government’s efforts are continuing.
Authorities are monitoring the existing tiger population using GPS collars and camera traps. With the arrival of new tigers, the tiger population in Debrigarh is expected to increase.
