Andhra Pradesh has received three prestigious Jaivik India Awards for its efforts in natural farming. These awards were given by the International Competence Centre for Organic Agriculture (ICCOA) in a national competition held in Greater Noida.
Andhra Pradesh secured the first position among all states for its initiatives in promoting natural farming. Additionally, it was recognized in two other categories. The state is leading with over 800,000 farmers adopting natural farming practices. This achievement led to the state government receiving the Jaivik India Award for the best government supporting such initiatives.
Ganimisetti Padmaja, a farmer from Chimatavari Palem village in Bapatla district, was honored with a Jaivik Award in the women’s category for her exceptional work in natural farming. She has been practicing organic farming for the past four years, and her efforts were acknowledged by the Rythu Sadhikara Samstha (RySS), which selected her as a model farmer.
In the category of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), the top award was presented to Attalurupalem Organic Farmers Producer Company Limited from Attaluru village in Amaravathi mandal.
Vijay Kumar, the Executive Vice-Chairman of RySS, has been chosen for the esteemed Dr MS Swaminathan Award for Environment Protection. This award is presented by the Rotary Club of Madras East to individuals or organizations that have made exceptional contributions to environmental protection. The award ceremony is scheduled to take place in Madras on 6th September.
