In recent operations in West Bengal, the Border Security Force (BSF) has detained 45 people who were attempting to cross the international border unlawfully.
Among those apprehended, 32 were Bangladeshis trying to enter India, while 13 were Indians attempting to cross into the neighboring country without authorization.
The arrests took place at different locations during three separate operations on Wednesday. At the Singamora border station, 20 Bangladeshi women, four children, and four men were captured, along with six Indian women, three children, and a man.
The arrested Indians came from Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and West Bengal, while the detained Bangladeshis hailed from various places such as Bagairhat, Barisal, Ferozepur, Khulna, Jessore, Ghazipur, and Gopalganj.
Upon questioning, the Bangladeshi nationals admitted that they were trying to come to India in search of better job opportunities, while the Indian individuals stated that they were heading to Bangladesh to visit their families, according to the BSF.
All those detained were handed over to the Bagdah police station for further processing.
A spokesperson for the BSF emphasized that rigorous measures are being implemented to prevent illegal migration at the international border.
