Popular singer, rapper, and songwriter Jelly Roll is gearing up to hit the stage in Sioux Falls this October, as announced in a press release from the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.
The concert is scheduled for October 28, and tickets will be available for purchase starting at 10 a.m. on September 22. Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, will take the stage at 7:30 p.m.
Jelly Roll is renowned for his collaborations with fellow rap artists such as Lil Wyte, Struggle Jennings, and Tech N9ne, as highlighted in the press release. Earlier this year, his hit song “Son of a Sinner” earned him three CMT Music Awards, including Male Video of the Year, Male Breakthrough Video of the Year, and Digital-First Performance of the Year.
Before making a shift to country music with his 2023 album “Whitsitt Chapel,” Jelly Roll’s career was primarily focused on hip-hop. In a 2022 interview with Toni Gonzalez on Loudwire Nights, he explained that his move to a different genre was influenced by the realization that he was going to be a father while he was incarcerated. This life-changing event prompted him to reconsider many of his previous decisions.
The press release also mentioned that Jelly Roll achieved his first No. 1 song on rock radio with “Dead Man Walking” in May 2022 and his first No. 1 song on country radio with “Son of a Sinner” in January 2023, which was co-written with David Ray Stevens.
Growing up in a large family exposed Jelly Roll to a wide range of music, which he credits for his ability to seamlessly transition between different genres.
Tickets for the Sioux Falls concert can be purchased online through Ticketmaster or in person at the KELOLAND Box Office.
