In a recent development, Atlanta-based rapper Jeezy, whose real name is Jay Jenkins, has filed for divorce from his wife and television host, Jeannie Mai. The divorce filing took place in Fulton County Superior Court and indicates that Jeezy and Mai are already living separately. They had previously signed a prenuptial agreement. Jeezy is requesting joint legal custody of their daughter, who was born in the early part of the last year.

The couple tied the knot in March 2021, holding their wedding at their Atlanta home during the midst of the pandemic. Jeannie Mai had been a host on the syndicated talk show “The Real” for eight seasons, but unfortunately, the show was canceled the previous year. Interestingly, Jeezy and Mai first crossed paths when he appeared as a guest on her show.

In a 2021 interview with Vanity Fair, Mai shared their love story, saying that after meeting on her show, they went on a romantic sushi dinner in Los Angeles, followed by a night of salsa dancing. During that memorable evening, Jeezy asked if she could envision spending the rest of her life with him, and surprisingly, she could.

Jeezy, a Grammy-nominated artist, boasts an impressive music career with nine top 10 records on the Billboard album chart and several top 10 rap hits, including tracks like “Put On” and “Soul Survivor.”
